There are certain things you need to look for when hiring a siding contractor. We have some advice for deciding on who to hire for your siding project.

Does the siding contractor have additional warranties?
They should be able to offer you the best possible warranty from that manufacturer plus a labor warranty for a minimum of 3 years.

What kind of reviews does the contractor have?
Online reviews are a great snapshot of how a company is performing with its clients.
We think the best way to get a sense of a company is to meet them, listen to what they have to say and speak to a few of their references. Most importantly, be honest with your own assessment. As yourself, “Is this someone I want to work with?” Are you comfortable asking questions, do you feel rushed or like you’re being sold? An expert should not have to “sell you” anything. The best solution should feel like a logical decision.

What expectations are associated with payment?
We typically break payments into thirds.
One-third of the total should be paid as a retainer upon signing a contract. Another third should be paid at the start of work or the halfway point of the job and the final payment is made after our walk around at the project’s completion.

Where are you licensed to do siding?
Make sure your siding company is licensed to do siding in your area! We are licensed in all of Yonkers, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Connecticut and New Jersey.

What’s your procedure for removing waste?
Making sure that waste is removed from your property in a timely and safe manner is important. We personally hire a carting company to remove the waste to ensure that it’s done properly and safely.

Other important things we recommend finding before hiring a siding contractor:
Visit a real live job site to see how the contractor works with clients and treats their property.
Check bids to make sure they’re all broken down the way you want: Think materials, labor, profit margins and specific overhead costs.

Above all, you should trust and respect your siding contractor, which is what we strive for in every project.
